Oklahoma Teen Stabbed to Death Days Before Christmas After Argument 'Got Out of Hand', Cops Say

Ryder Lewis, 16, was killed in a stabbing. A juvenile is accused of the crime and is being held by police.

An Oklahoma juvenile is in custody following the stabbing death of a 16-year-old just days before Christmas.

Ryder Lewis was stabbed to death by a 15-year-old around midnight on Dec. 23 after what police believe was an argument that got out of control, PEOPLE reported.

The suspect has not been named because they are a juvenile. The 15-year-old is being held at the Cleveland County juvenile facility on first-degree murder charges, according to PEOPLE.

"Ryder Lewis became the victim of a senseless act of violence. While his parents should be preparing to celebrate Christmas with their teenage son, they'll be planning his funeral instead," states a GoFundMe page set up for the family. "Ryder's passing is devastating, & has cast a long shadow on what should be a joyous season — a sweet, hardworking kid with a kind heart & a constant smile, he will be so missed."

The page states that it is raising money for the family to "support Ryder's parents [and] to allow them the time they need to navigate their grief in the days [and] months to come without financial burdens. All donations will go directly into an FBO account for the family. We hope you'll join us in prayer [and] in action as we rally around the Lewis' during this time."

The stabbing occurred at a home. Lewis was pronounced dead at the scene, KOCO-5 reported.

"Unfortunately, it was an argument that got out of hand. It appeared the two knew each other," Oklahoma City Police Master Sgt. Gary Knight told KOCO-5.
