Oklahoma State and Oklahoma won’t play Bedlam anymore after this season, when OU goes to the SEC, but the Cowboys are still finding ways to stick it to the Sooners.
In the final week of the season, Oklahoma was hopeful for one last trip to the Big 12 Championship for a rematch against Texas. All the Sooners needed was to beat TCU, and for BYU to top Oklahoma State.
And for a while, it looked like that was going to happen. At halftime, the Cougars led the Cowboys 24-6. The odds were not in Oklahoma State’s favor.
But then, Ollie Gordon happened. He rushed for three touchdowns in the second half to help send the game into overtime, and then ran for two more scores in the extra frames. What sealed the game – and a berth in the Big 12 title game for Oklahoma State – was Trey Rucker recovering a BYU fumble on a second-and-8 play in the second overtime.

In all, Gordon ran for 166 yards on 34 carries for five touchdowns. In old school fashion, Oklahoma State did not throw for a score against BYU.
So, Oklahoma has played for its last Big 12 Championship. The Sooners will be watching from home next Saturday when Gordon, Mike Gundy and the Cowboys face Texas at Jerry World in Arlington.
Oklahoma State sacrificed a firstborn or something. It is the only explanation
