Oklahoma QB Dillon Gabriel wokring his way into the mix for the 2024 NFL draft

Everyone knew guys like Caleb Williams and Bo Nix would be good this season. And every pundit understands they will be among the top quarterback prospects in the 2024 NFL draft.

But there have been a couple of quarterbacks who have emerged this season and really burst onto the scene. The most obvious is Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders who is making a strong case to be selected in the first round should he declare.

There’s another quarterback who isn’t getting the level of publicity Sanders is who is quietly making a name for himself as well and that is Oklahoma signal caller Dillon Gabriel.

On Saturday, Gabriel led the Sooners past the Texas Longhorns and really gave the national audience another name to consider in the upcoming draft class that is already loaded at quarterback.

Gabriel started his college career at UCF but found his way to Oklahoma via the transfer portal. Gabriel doesn’t have ideal NFL size but he is overflowing with all the intangibles you look for in an NFL quarterback. In addition, Gabriel is an impressive athlete with the speed and escapability to extend plays and get tough yards on the ground. His arm is more than adequate but it’s hard not to root for a young man who plays as smart as he does and elevates the play of those around him.

Right now, we have a third-round grade on Gabriel, due in large part because of just how deep this class is and because he is a big undersized at just 6 feet tall.
