The Thunder signed Dort to a five-year deal worth $87.5 million on June 30. This news came a day after the Thunder declined his $1.9 million team option, thus making him a restricted free agent.
The Thunder decided not to risk it with Dort potentially signing an offer sheet with another team and instead decided to extend him in the opening hours of free agency.
The details of the contract were revealed as well. The Thunder have a team option on the fifth year and $5 million of the contract is in bonuses that Dort will probably not reach, per ESPN’s Bobby Marks.
The Lu Dort 5/$87.5M contract has a team option in the last year.
$5M in unlikely bonuses ($1M per season).
Life changing money for Dort who earned $3.5M total in his previous contract.
