Part of the city centre has been closed off after an oil spill.
A small cordon at the top of Lord Street close to the former Debenhams has been set up after a van tried to drive over the bollards of the pedestrianised area.
Clean-up crews have been out to the spill and sand has been spread which will stay in place for the next 24 hours. In a tweet by Liverpool City Council, they said the cost of the clean-up will be claimed back by the driver's insurer.

A Liverpool City Council spokesperson said: "Clean up of an oil spill on Church Street has begun. Sand has now been spread (needs to be in place for 24 hrs) - it will then be jet-washed tomorrow. The spill came from a van which had tried to drive over bollards - so we will claim back clean-up costs from their insurer."
