Put this in the bucket of a shocker. According to multiple reports, Penn State is going to so-called “waste” its whiteout on Minnesota. That of course means Ohio State won’t have to deal with what many consider the toughest environment to head into in all of college football.
The writing seemed to be on the proverbial wall when things began to line up to make the Ohio State vs. Penn State game a noon ordeal instead of the normal nighttime hornet’s nest in Happy Valley. Still, there were thoughts that a whiteout could still take place at midday.
Or so we thought.
On Wednesday, announcements were made about Penn State’s upcoming games, and the whiteout will be reserved for the Nittany Lions’ home night game against Minnesota on October 22. It’s the first time OSU hasn’t had to head into whiteout conditions since 2010.

But don’t worry, Ohio State will have to deal with a special occasion of its own because the game on October 29 has been deemed a “stripe-out” where sections will coordinate the same colors.
Still, dealing with a Penn State crowd in the middle of the day isn’t quite the pomp and circumstance a whiteout provides.
