Ohio State Women’s basketball to play home and away with Tennessee

There is reason for excitement when it comes to the Ohio State women’s basketball team. Last year the Buckeyes were the regular season champs and made a run to the Sweet 16. Now Head Coach Kevin McGuff is looking to take the program to the next level.

We told you earlier in the month that OSU will take on the Louisville Cardinals in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. And the marquee matchups just keep coming for the lady hoopsters as it was recently announced that Ohio State will play a home and home series with one of the premier women’s programs in the country… the Tennessee Volunteers.

The series will begin this year when the Vols make the trip to Columbus to take on the Buckeyes in the Schottenstein Center on November 8. OSU will travel to Knoxville in 2023.

Pat Summitt made the Lady Vols a household name in the 80s, 90s, and 2000s when she led her teams to eight national championships. Summitt had to step away from the game in 2012 due to health concerns and passed in 2016.

The women’s basketball program hasn’t been the same at Tennessee since Summitt’s departure, but should still be a big-time matchup for the Buckeyes. This will be an excellent early-season test for a team that is hoping to be at the top of the Big Ten standings and make another deep run in the NCAA tournament.
