Ohio State’s Ryan Day, wife to establish ‘mental health resilience fund’ at Ohio State

If there’s one thing we’ve come to realize about Ohio State football head coach Ryan Day, it’s his commitment to the mental health of young people. Day was hit hard in his own life at just eight years old when his father committed suicide. He has opened up about his personal run-in with mental health and has been a strong advocate of the awareness and support needed to take care of ones self while a part of the Buckeye program.

That will apparently continue with the establishment of a “mental health resilience fund,” according to a release from the university on Tuesday. Day and his wife, Nina, will be “making a sizeable donation to fund research and services that promote mental health at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and College of Medicine.”

A press conference to provide further details is scheduled for Wednesday morning, but also mentioned as a precursor is the fact that The Nina and Ryan Day Resilience Fund will be housed in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health.

This is just a further commitment from Day and his wife to continue the already noble efforts to move the understanding and narrative of mental health forward. We’ll have any further important details as they become available after the presser on Wednesday.
