Just days after Texas freshman quarterback Arch Manning saw his first collegiate action in a game against Texas Tech, the full-court press to recruit the signal-caller appears to be on. Parlaying his Texas debut with Ohio State’s loss to Michigan, former Buckeyes running back Maurice Clarett had a message for both Arch and his uncle, Peyton Manning.
“Come on Dawg…. Get in that transfer portal. We will have your whole life turnt up. I know your whole family paid but ain’t nothing like being a star at an elite school. Quinn Ewers ain’t going nowhere soon.” Clarett posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“@peytonmanning @archmanning think about it big dawg.” Clarett concluded.
It’s an interesting push from Clarett, and the timing of it, just after the loss to the Wolverines, certainly raised a few eyebrows. Clarett even responded to a comment about it, stating that it’s “open season out here.”
Clarett has a point about Texas’s starting quarterback Quinn Ewers, who’s only a sophomore and threw for 2,709 yards, 17 passing touchdowns and five interceptions while posting a 9-1 record in the 10 games he played this season.
Whether Manning would even contemplate a potential transfer is an unknown, but if he did, he’d be one of the most sought-after prospects ever in the portal.
