After the Ohio State defense struggled toward the end of last season, head coach Ryan Day knew he needed to make some adjustments, including on the coaching staff.
Day poached former Buckeye great James “Little Animal” Laurinaitis from Notre Dame to help with the linebackers. Now, he’s gone to a Big Ten program to take another one of their coaches.
Buy Buckeyes TicketsAccording to a report by On3’s Sean Callahan, Ohio State will hire former Nebraska defensive line and linebackers coach Mike Dawson as an analyst. With NFL and collegiate experience, Dawson looks like a great fit for the Buckeye defense.
Ohio State has added former Nebraska DL/OLB coach Mike Dawson as an analyst, sources tell me and @mzenitz.
In addition to Nebraska, Dawson has also worked for teams like the New York Giants.
His relationship with Ryan Day dates back all the way to 2002 at New Hampshire.

With current defensive line coach Larry Johnson on the verge of retirement, Day very well might have put a succession plan in place. Time will tell, but adding someone who has had success at the highest level of football is a good thing.
