Ohio State football is among the best college teams in the country, and most polls have the Buckeyes sitting at No. 2 following the unthinkable loss by the former No. 1 overall team, Alabama Crimson Tide, on the road in Week 6.
The Crimson Tide were No. 1 after beating then-No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs the week prior. The Texas Longhorns, in most polls, were No. 2, and in the majority, they moved up to the top spot in the country.
FOX Sports’ analyst RJ Young doesn’t agree though, and he has Ohio State atop the rankings.
“Ohio State became the first team to score on its opening possession against Iowa in two years (Oct. 1, 2022, Michigan). That touchdown came on a 14-yard catch from Emeka Egbuka, who finished with nine catches for 71 yards and three TDs in the win. The Buckeyes are loaded with talent and have earned the right to be here, but now comes a top-five matchup against the Oregon Ducks for Big Ten supremacy and perhaps the No. 1-ranking in the sport going to the winner,” Young wrote.
Ohio State may not have the top spot in the well-known AP Poll, but it does have a chance to stake its claim in Week 7. The 5-0 Buckeyes will visit the No. 3 Oregon Ducks in Eugene, Oregon.
The Saturday evening matchup is primed to be among the best of the season, and it is certainly the signature win this Buckeyes team will be craving. Ohio State beat the Iowa Hawkeyes, a team that has been a top-25 side for parts of the season, at home 35-7.
