In case you lost sight of it, the Ohio State basketball team is getting some sun and shooting some hoops out in the Bahamas. We’re sure the squad is enjoying its time out at the Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island, but there’s also some business to get down to on the court, and that’s getting a lot of new faces acclimated with some game time — albeit exhibition — as well.
So far so good, as the Buckeyes disposed of the Egyptian national team on Saturday evening, 72-68. While there’s not a whole lot of media presence for OSU’s summer trip to the island, our friends at the Columbus Dispatch (Adam Jardy) did a fine job of keeping us all up to speed.
The Buckeyes went into halftime down by just a couple of points, 34-32, but did well to stretch out a lead in the second half before holding on for a four-point victory. We don’t have many stats, but here’s what the Jardy posted on his timeline as the action unfolded so you can see how things played out from afar.
Pregame warm ups like you've likely never seen before

Will this team live and die by the 3-pointer?
#Buckeyes taking a whole bunch of early 3s and making a few of them. OSU up 11-9 on Egypt midway through the first.

The freshmen will have a big impact on this team. Mark it down.
Definitive analysis: through one quarter of summer exhibition basketball, #Buckeyes freshmen doing some freshmen things. Ohio State leads 16-15 after a Tanner Holden jumper at the buzzer.

A good spurt caused some separation in the first half
#Buckeyes on a 10-2 run right now and getting downhill offensively on a few possessions. Bruce Thornton with a pair of nice drives and one from Gene Brown III as well. Lead at 24-17 in the second quarter.

Buckeyes will have to figure out the size thing ...
We've got 15 minutes for halftime, Egypt leads the #Buckeyes 34-32. Bruce Thornton has made a few strong plays and so have Zed Key and Tanner Holden. Egypt's size has caused some problems in the paint.

Zed Key is going to be a problem this season
Zed Key is doing some work at both ends of the court. Finishing through contact, affecting shots and playing with physicality. #Buckeyes up 45-40 with four to play in the third.

Some good, and some bad
#Buckeyes force a turnover with some solid team defense and get the last shot of the quarter. Bruce Thornton with a nice drive and kick to Sean McNeil for a corner 3, but it's blocked. OSU up 49-45 entering the fourth.

Well, might as well get them used to it now
#Buckeyes freshmen getting a taste of some Big Ten officiating.

A good run to almost ice the game in the second half
#Buckeyes on a 10-2 run and lead 61-51 with five to go. Brice Sensabaugh with a dish to Isaac Likekele and a 3-pointer, Ice with another finish and a flex and Ohio State pulling away.
