Ohio State baseball sweeps Michigan to end season

The Ohio State baseball team’s season is over, but it ended on a high note with a three-game sweep of Michigan and a winning streak of nine games. On Saturday, the Buckeyes played one of its complete games of the season with a 7-2 victory over the Wolverines.

OSU committed no errors, notched ten hits, and had solid pitching en route to some momentum that can be carried into the offseason.

The Buckeyes once again struck first with a sacrifice fly in the second inning to take a 1-0 lead. Cole Andrews then smashed a two-run homer in the bottom of the third inning followed by another bomb by Henry Kaczmar to extend the lead to 4-0 in back-to-back variety, and OSU was on its way.

Michigan would claw back two runs, but Ohio State answered with an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth inning for a 5-2 OSU lead. Things stayed that way until the bottom of the seventh inning when senior Caden Kaiser hit a two-run single to finish the scoring.

Pitcher Wyatt Loncar came on in the ninth inning to close things out, and the Buckeyes went into the offseason on a high note with a 31-25 overall record and a 9-15 mark in the Big Ten. Only the top eight teams in the league make the conference tournament, so the season will conclude. But hey, at least the Buckeyes put a dent in the seeding of its arch-rival to end the season.
