That's no moon, that's the biggest discount the new Lego Death Star has ever had.
If you've had your eye on the biggest and most ambitious Lego Star Wars kit but were put off by the (frankly eye-watering) cost, I've got good news; the new Lego Death Star has tumbled to a record low price as part of Amazon's Spring Deal Days. While it's still a decent chunk of change, you can now pick it up for 15% less – it's £764.98 via Amazon rather than the usual $899.99. If you're keeping score, that's a price cut of £135. Not bad for a model that's bigger than many of the best Lego sets combined.
Is the model worth buying? For me, it depends on what you're expecting from the experience. If you're hankering after the days of the 'full' Death Stars, you'll be disappointed. This is a vertical slice of the (quite operational) battle station, providing a series of dioramas that lock together and represent different scenes from the original trilogy rather than a 'complete' model.

If you're happy with that snapshot approach, though, you'll find a lot to love. Alongside a working turbolift, there's the Throne Room duel, the gang's trip to a trash compactor, Luke and Leia's swing across the reactor shaft, and more. It's certainly comprehensive. While I do wonder if a better approach would have been to sell these dioramas separately and let them combine into the full Death Star rather than having it as a £900 model, it's definitely a fan's nostalgic dream.
It's one hell of a centerpiece, too. This is a hefty kit and will draw all eyes to it, so look no further if you want a conversation starter.
