Oh Hyeon-gyu completes Celtic transfer

Celtic have completed the signing of Oh Hyeon-gyu.

The South Korea international has joined the Scottish champions on a five-year deal. 

The Hoops have signed the 21-year-old for a fee believed to be worth around £2.5million.

The striker joins from K-League club Suwon Samsung Bluewings.

Speaking about the latest addition to his squad, Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou said: “We are delighted to bring Oh to Celtic. 

“He is a young, talented striker with great attributes and someone who is ready to take the next stage in his career – a player who is hungry, eager to develop and to achieve succe

“I have watched Oh for some time and he is the striker I really wanted as I think he will be a great fit in our squad.

“Really importantly, I know that he had his heart set on joining us too and that his own perseverance has been crucial in making this deal happen, so his determination to join Celtic has been very clear.

“We are really pleased to welcome him to the Club and look forward to working with him and settling him into our squad.”

Speaking about the move for himself, Oh insists it's a dream come true. 

He told Celtic TV: "I'm happy to be playing at one of the top clubs and I'm delighted that my dream has come true.

"I'm a very aggressive player who also likes the physical side. I also like to score lots of goals. 

"I feel like I'm on a movie set and I'm really excited to be in the city. I'm looking forward to the upcoming days.

"One of my aims is to score a lot of goals. I also have ambitions of winning the league. 

"Ki Sung-yueng and Cha Du-ri are two of the players I respect the most. I have seen them playing for Celtic and I'm now happy to have the Celtic badge on my chest and working with the team on its goals.

"This is the moment I have dreamed of and I'm really excited to perform in front of the fans at the stadium.

"Yes, I think the other Asian players here will definitely be helpful because we have common things as they have successfully adapted here, I would like to do the same."

Oh will wear the number 19 shirt.
