'Oh dear': Young Scotland fan goes viral with explicit outburst before Germany game

A SKY News presenter was left shocked by a young Scotland fan’s message to Germany ahead of last night’s game.

While walking around a pub in Dunfermline, Scotland correspondent for Sky News Connor Gillies was chatting to fans ahead of the Euro 2024 opener.

Speaking to one fan, he explained that the youngster sat next to him had never witnessed Scotland at a major tournament.

“He was never born when this happened,” they said.

Gillies then turned to the youngster to ask if he had anything to say to Scotland ahead of the game to which the fan replied: “F*** you Germany.”

The man with him seemed to see the funny side while Gillies commented “oh dear” and apologised for the language before moving onto another fan.

Most people in the comments looked on the funny side though with many people commenting with laughing emojis.

Gillies himself even posted the clip and said: “Go live from the pub with the Tartan Army, they said…”

The post was also re-shared by another account which commented: "Live TV is the best."

Unfortunately, it wasn’t to be for Scotland on Friday night as Steve Clarke’s side fell to a 5-1 loss in their opening match.

First Minister John Swinney was among those in attendance at the match and, although the result didn’t go the way he hoped, he said he was “so proud of the Tartan Army”.

“Huge support for the team and they won the hearts of Munich,” the First Minister said in a message on Twitter/X.

SNP candidate for Perth and Kinross-shire Pete Wishart meanwhile joked that Scotland’s “real” tournament starts in the next game against

Scotland will travel to Cologne to face Switzerland on June 19 before the final group stage game against Hungary on June 23 in Stuttgart.
