An offshore wind consultancy operating in Dublin, Belfast and Cork has announced plans to recruit 500 staff as demand for its worldwide services grows.
Gavin & Doherty Geosolutions was founded by offshore veteran Paul Doherty in 2011 and acquired by UK-based Venterra Group in 2021.
The new roles, supported by IDA Ireland, will focus on engineering analysis, numerical modelling and offshore design from graduate to senior level.

GDG said the staff will be recruited over the next five years to support the establishment of a new Engineering Hub focused on analysis and innovation both nationally and around the globe.
Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Simon Coveney, said: “These new engineering roles are hugely welcome and create numerous exciting opportunities for skilled engineers of all levels.
“In addition to this welcome news, this project supports the Governments plans in aiming to have Ireland carbon neutral by 2050.”
Ireland has vowed to increase the proportion of electricity created through renewables from 30% to 80% by 2030.
The news of GDG’s expansion comes just four weeks after four wind firms were given the green light to apply for planning permissions in the country’s first ever offshore wind auction.
Minister Coveney added: “Wind energy provides an emissions free, clean and renewable energy source and initiatives like this that create employment and advancing our decarbonisation goals is fully supported.
“Congratulations to all involved in this exciting and innovative project.”
GDG founder and EVP of Engineering at Venterra Group, Paul Doherty, said the job “announcement further builds on GDG’s successful track record of assembling an industry and world-leading team of experts to meet the growing demand for offshore wind energy”.
“Our ambitions extend beyond Europe to the US and Asian markets as we strive to become the global leader in the offshore wind industry,” he added.
Michael Lohan, CEO at IDA Ireland, said: “The expansion will add important capability to Ireland’s offshore wind supply chain and positions Ireland as the firm’s global engineering services hub to serve its growing customer base internationally.”
Dr Indrasenan Thusyanthan, Managing Director at GDG, said: “We are thrilled to make this exciting announcement of new job opportunities within GDG.
“It’s a testament to the remarkable progress made by GDG and showcases the organisation’s commitment to supporting and empowering the sector worldwide.
“With these new positions, GDG is poised to further enhance its global service offering and drive innovation in the ever-evolving world of renewable energy.”
