A man has been arrested by the PSNI in the North — on suspicion of murdering a young Romanian woman in Limerick on Tuesday.
Gardai probing the fatal stabbing of the woman confirmed last night that a 26-year-old man had been arrested.
A Garda spokesman said: “Investigating gardai are aware that detectives from the PSNI Serious Crime branch have arrested a 26-year-old man on suspicion of murder.

“Detectives based at the incident room at Henry Street Garda Station remain in close contact with our colleagues in the Police Service of Northern Ireland at this time. The Garda Technical Bureau is continuing with their examination of two scenes in Limerick.”
Meanwhile, officials are desperately trying to make contact with the family of the young woman.
Sources say that embassy officials are now attempting to make contact with the victim’s family in Romania, before releasing any further details. The victim, who was aged in her 20s, was found stabbed to death in an apartment at Riverdock House, Dock Road, in Limerick city on Tuesday afternoon.
State Pathologist Dr Linda Mulligan completed a post-mortem on Wednesday, the results of which are not being disclosed for “operational reasons.”
A Family Liaison Officer has been appointed and will keep the family informed of the investigation.
“The Garda Technical Bureau is continuing with their examination of the scene,” a spokesperson said.
Gardai are appealing to any person who has information that can assist with this investigation to contact them.
