Office workers split after photo of padlocked milk goes viral

Reddit users have been split in response to a post shared by an office worker who used a padlock to prevent others from drinking their milk.

The post, entitled 'Peak pettiness or justifiable security in the office kitchen?', shows a fridge full of cartons of milk, however one is an unlikely outlier, as it has been padlocked shut by the owner.

Office workers have been divided on whether the person is being petty or whether their actions are justified in opting not to share.

Shared in the r/CasualUK subreddit, the post has already garnered over 2,000 heated comments with some interesting points.

The highest rated comment, with over 5,000 likes, said: "It's kind of both at once. If people didn't take what's not theirs there would be no need. I wouldn't go that far with milk but people lost food at the last place I was at. 12 hour shift with no food ain't a joke."

Speaking anecdotally in a reply, one person recalled their amazement while working in a London office for five years at the amount of lunches that went missing from shared fridges.

Another worker recalled: "I once worked in a factory where the boss said if you want tea/coffee you gotta supply your own. Not a happy workforce. A week later I caught the t**t red handed taking the foil off my milk. I f*****g went mental at him. Got on the tannoy to let the unhappy workforce know. The pr***."

One person said that they completely understand the person's rationale, having bought two pints of milk each week in their office, only to have it all gone by Wednesday morning.

"I'm always happy to share my milk in the office, but the amount of times I have found that MY milk which I bought is completely empty with no replacement offered/available makes me feel this is completely justified. Nothing worse than making a cuppa only to find that someone finished the milk and left you high and dry (of milk)," a Reddit user remarked.

Taking a more humourous approach, one commenter quipped: "The worst part is, they're working from home."

Do you think the person is being petty or there is justification behind their actions? Let us know in the comments.
