BHUBANESWAR: The Special Task Force (STF) of Crime Branch on Saturday seized 10 quintals of ganja from Tamando, on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar and arrested one person. The contraband seizure comes a day after 50 quintals of marijuana, highest quantity so far in a single raid, was seized by STF officials in Koraput.
"Following intelligence input, we conducted the raid along the NH-16 near Tamando. A truck was stopped and we found that the truck had a secret chamber where the contraband was idden. The truck was going to Bihar," said deputy inspector general (STF) Jai Narayan Pankaj. STF arrested one Rajesh Singh (28) from Hardian in Jagatsinghpur district. He couldn't produce any valid authority in support of possession of the contraband. He was produced in the court, a STF officer said. Pankaj said ganja cultivation is going on in Maoist areas.
