Odisha: Puri temple servitor killed 2 months after acquittal in 2012 murder

BHUBANESWAR: A servitor of Puri Jagannath Temple, who along with five others were acquitted in January in connection with the 2012 murder of former BJD councillor and servitor Taluchha Bhagaban Mohapatra (also known as Guna Singhari), was shot dead by miscreants in Puri on Wednesday. The deceased, Krushna Chandra Pratihari (47), was the secretary of Suar Mahasuar Nijog, an association of servitors in Jagannath Temple.

“My brother had gone to Barabati Jaga (a community centre) in the morning. Two locals (Tutu and Kunmuni) met my brother at Barabati Jaga to finalise a land deal. Around 10.40 am, I received a call from a relative that my brother had been fired upon. I rushed to the spot and found him lying in a pool of blood,” the deceased’s younger brother Narasingha Pratihari wrote in his FIR at Puri Town police station.
