BHUBANESWAR: When it comes to Odisha’s electoral politics, only chief minister Naveen Patnaik matters. Nothing else does. Election after election in all formats, his party — the BJD — has only been improving its previous performances while Naveen’s stature has grown from a politician to a cult figure in the state.

Political observers would earlier say mere waving of hands while campaigning could bring in the votes.
