Erik ten Hag's days could be numbered as the Manchester United boss becomes increasingly tipped to be given the boot by the Red Devils.
Bookmakers have slashed the odds of Ten Hag being the next Premier League boss to leave from 9/1 to 2/1 after Wednesday's Carabao Cup exit at the hands of Newcastle.
The defeat follows a derby drubbing by the same scoreline against Manchester City on the weekend, with United eighth in the Premier League and labouring in the Champions League too.
Some have highlighted how the Glazers' poor running of the club has been a serious mitigation of Ten Hag's struggles but his odds of leaving Old Trafford before Christmas have now also dropped, to 6/4.
Sheffield United manager Paul Heckingbottom remains the favourite to be next to part company with his club having failed to win a game this season.
Pundits laid into Ten Hag after the Carabao Cup defeat, with Paul Merson describing the situation as "toxic".
"I don’t see how much further this goes on," he told Sky Sports. "I really don’t, I read in the paper it could cost £15million [to sack him].
"It just cost them £80m in Sancho, they chased a kid for how long and he says one thing and is completely out and will probably be out on loan in January and they’ll probably be paying half his wages.
"This needs to get sorted out but personally I think it is toxic, I don’t take too much notice of behind the scenes, but it is toxic on the pitch and that is where it counts.
"At the moment they are all over the place."
