Oceania Cruises unveils new range of wellness tours – including dance therapy and meditating with a monk

Oceania Cruises’ wellness tours encourage guests to immerse themselves in local customs and culture - (Oceania Cruises)

Practising tai chi in Bangkok and dance therapy in Colombo are among a series of new wellness-focused excursions launched by Oceania Cruises.

The adult-only luxury cruise line is now offering more than 50 Wellness Discovery Tours, on top of other excursions, in destinations throughout Asia, Europe and South America.

The aim is to give guests a chance to become immersed in local customs and culture during port stops.

The small-group, wellness-oriented tours bring guests together with a local specialist.

Passengers can take part in dance therapy sessions and learn the traditional Kandyan national dance during cruises that stop in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Cruises that visit Thailand include a chance to do Tai Chi at Viharn Sien Park in the shadow of the temple Viharn Sien, or you could meditate with a local monk.

Other experiences range from mineral-rich baths in Rome and thermal pools in Naples, to hikes in the cliffs of Bilbao.

Excursion costs are separate to the cruise fare and depend on the sailing and time of year.

There are also immersive activities on board including guest speakers, performances from local musicians, culinary lectures, hands-on cooking classes, and food and beverage pairing experiences, as well as creative workshops in the Artist Loft.

Jason Montague, chief luxury officer of Oceania Cruises, said: “Travel has become one of the most powerful ways people invest in their wellbeing. It’s a means of stepping outside of their usual routine to slow down, explore different cultures and destinations, and return home with a renewed perspective.

“Our Wellness Discovery Tours are designed for those seeking to nurture their wellbeing and discover the rejuvenating power of travel. For today’s luxury guest, travel is much more than movement from place to place – it is a journey of discovery, with every voyage offering the chance to expand horizons, deepen understanding and return home transformed by new perspectives.”
