Obamas to produce Broadway revival of Pulitzer-winning drama

  • Barack and Michelle Obama's media company, Higher Ground, is co-producing its first Broadway play, a revival of David Auburn's Pulitzer Prize-winning drama Proof.
  • Don Cheadle and Ayo Edebiri are set to make their Broadway debuts in the production, alongside Jin Ha and Samira Wiley.
  • The 16-week limited run will be directed by Tony-winner Thomas Kail and is scheduled to begin previews at the Booth Theatre on 31 March, with opening night on 16 April.
  • The Obamas said that Proof aligns with Higher Ground's mission to champion stories that explore profound questions about brilliance, doubt, and inheritance.
  • The play explores themes of genius, mental illness, and love, centring on a daughter's discovery of her late math professor father's notebook.
