According to Mauro, the shooter appeared to have been lying in wait for Thompson, targeting him as he walked down a specific block at around 6:40 a.m. local time. The precision with which the shooter executed the attack, crossing a distance of 60-70 feet in dark conditions without hesitation, has left many puzzled.
