Nyck De Vries has called for "consistency" from Formula E after he was hit with a time penalty which cost him a podium in London at the weekend.
The Mercedes-EQ driver finished third on Saturday and Sunday during the weekend's action at the ExCel Centre in the capital. However his joy on Saturday was short lived as he was penalised for moving excessively under braking, according to the stewards, as he looked to fend off Nick Cassidy's late attack.
A five-second penalty demoted him to sixth with Cassidy, Oliver Askew and Mitch Evans all being classified ahead of him. Formula E has not employed the same rigorous braking rules that we see in Formula 1, but that is beginning to shift with De Vries simply asking that they remain consistent.
The Dutchman claimed it was "not up to me to judge" the penalty - and was generally for the changes provided they were applied correctly.
He said: "I think generally it is right (to bring it in) but in Formula E there is a lot going on, there is a lot of contact, there is a lot of action and personally I felt it was very small relative to what you normally see. So I just think they should look for more consistency - I'm not judging their decision, I just want more consistency."
De Vries came into the weekend without any realistic championship hopes but has a major role to play for his team, who are trying to secure a second consecutive success. Their haul of points in London means they now lead Rokit Venturi by 36 points.
His third place on Sunday came after he'd qualified in fifth and the Dutchman was happy with the pace and performance heading into the final two rounds of the season in South Korea. He said: "I am pleased to get back on the podium - the team and myself executed a great race. We performed well strategically and had great pace so I'm happy."
An issue on his left front suspension with several laps to go hindered any hopes he had of getting home favourite Jake Dennis, whom he was catching in the latter stages, with his team calling for him to bring home a strong haul of points.
Season 8 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship reaches its conclusion in Seoul, South Korea with a double-header on August 13 and 14.
