NYC Woman told security her Harry Styles concert tickets might be a scam. Then she scanned them: ‘i cannot with yall’

Concert tickets can be pretty expensive these days, especially when the musician is someone like Harry Styles. So it’s no surprise that people would seek to save a few dollars by looking at alternative sites to get cheaper tickets. That’s exactly what one woman on TikTok did, the problem was, when she arrived at the gate, she began to suspect the tickets might be a scam.

TikToker Vanessa arrived at the gates for the Styles gig in NYC with her friend but neither of them were sure whether they’d actually be able to get in. She and her friend suspected they may have been scammed with fake tickets. They were so convinced that they actually confessed to a member of security before they got in.

Well at least they get some points for being honest. However, they were still given the chance to try the ticket at the gate on the off-chance that it wasn’t a scam.

To the surprise of the two women the ticket scanned fine and the gate allowed them to pass through. Vanessa captures the moment of surprise as they realize the tickets were in fact genuine and the elation that followed.

Keeping an eye out for ticket scams can be hard

Buying concert tickets can be a bit tricky to say the least. It’s not uncommon for people to be fooled into paying hundreds, if not thousands of dollars only to find they haven’t really bought tickets after all. Commenters on TikTok claimed to have been in the same position as Vanessa before, “unfortunately i know this experience and have fallen to my knees thanking the universe,” wrote one person. Others were shocked by the risky move with one person writing, “i cannot with yall.”

However, it doesn’t always end on a positive note like it did for Vanessa and her friend. In one instance covered by the BBC a BTS fan revealed she had spent thousands on tickets for her and her friends only to find out she had been scammed.

Mainstream ticket sale sites such as Ticketmaster usually require fans to wait in long queues and pay high prices. They also sell out fast and in many cases the much sought after tickets are snapped up by people intending to re-sell them. This leaves genuine fans little alternative but to purchase through such re-sellers with little to no guarantee that they will receive an authentic ticket.

Vanessa confirmed that she had purchased the tickets through a re-seller which is likely what prompted her to believe it might have been a scam. In her case it wasn’t and she and her friend were able to enjoy the Harry Styles concert but others haven’t been as lucky.
