NY Sugar Surges to an 11-Year High on Supply Concerns

May NY world sugar #11 (SBK23) on Monday closed up +1.08 (+4.35%), and Aug London white sugar #5 (SWQ23) closed up +13.70 (+2.03%).

Sugar prices Monday rallied sharply, with NY sugar posting an 11-year high.  NY sugar surged Monday on short covering ahead of this Friday's expiration of May sugar contract.  With limited physical sugar supplies available in the cash market for futures deliveries, traders are being forced to pay up to cover short sugar futures positions.
