Nvidia launches RTX 4070 Ti Super with enhanced performance and memory

RTX 4070 Ti Super has 16GB memory and a wider 256-bit memory bus.

The gaming world is abuzz with anticipation as Nvidia unveils its latest addition to the GeForce RTX lineup - the RTX 4070 Ti Super. This card joins the ranks of the new RTX 40-series Super cards, set to dominate the market with their powerful features and impressive performance. What sets the RTX 4070 Ti Super apart is its upgraded memory capacity, boasting 16GB compared to its predecessor's 12GB. Along with a wider 256-bit memory bus, this card promises an enhanced gaming experience for enthusiasts and professionals alike.

In addition to the memory upgrade, the RTX 4070 Ti Super also receives a boost in CUDA, Tensor, and RT cores, as well as more ROPs. This means that the card will be significantly faster than its predecessor, the RTX 4070 Ti, and should closely rival the performance of the soon-to-be-replaced RTX 4080. The best part? Despite these impressive improvements, the price remains unchanged. The RTX 4070 Ti Super launches at the same $799 price point as its predecessor.

To put the RTX 4070 Ti Super to the test, I used a high-performance system consisting of a stock speed water-cooled Intel Core i9-12900K, 32GB of Kingston Fury 6000MHz DDR5 memory, a Solidigm P41 Plus SSD, and an Asus ROG Maximus Z790 Hero motherboard. With the latest drivers and game versions, I ensured accurate and up-to-date performance results.

Unfortunately, during the testing process, an issue was discovered with the MSI Ventus 3X card used, resulting in a performance reduction of up to five percent. A fix was provided that improved this to a three percent deficit, but it was not implemented in time to affect the findings of this review. Rest assured, I will update this article with any necessary performance data as soon as it becomes available.

In assessing the performance of the RTX 4070 Ti Super, I focused on resolutions above 1440p, as it didn't seem practical to test such a powerful card at lower resolutions. For 1080p testing, I primarily included mid-range cards, as the RTX 4090, for instance, is not recommended for such a low resolution.

When comparing the RTX 4070 Ti Super to its siblings, the RTX 4070 Ti and RTX 4080, it becomes clear that the new Super variant usually falls closer to the performance of the RTX 4070 Ti. The RTX 4080 maintains a commanding lead. However, there are instances where the RTX 4070 Ti Super shines, offering over a 10 percent improvement compared to the RTX 4070 Ti. Notably, in games like Watch Dogs: Legion, the RTX 4070 Ti Super outpaces even the Radeon RX 7900 XT.

With its enhanced specifications and improved performance, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super is undoubtedly the card to choose between its predecessor and the RTX 4080. It's not surprising that the RTX 4070 Ti Super is replacing the older card, rather than coexisting with it. Whether you're an avid gamer or a professional in need of powerful graphics capabilities, the RTX 4070 Ti Super promises to deliver an exceptional gaming experience. Embrace the future of gaming with Nvidia's latest addition to the RTX family - the RTX 4070 Ti Super.
