This week, Nvidia made headlines by surpassing Apple to become America’s second most valuable company. The CEO of Nvidia, Jensen Huang, was honored in his birthplace of Taiwan, where he was celebrated like a rockstar.

Wearing his iconic black leather jacket, Huang addressed a packed stadium in Taipei, emphasizing Taiwan's crucial role in developing the infrastructure that supports artificial intelligence (AI) technology, which has been instrumental in Nvidia's success.

During his speech, Huang praised Taiwan as an essential contributor to the world, showcasing a graphic displaying the names of nearly 100 of Nvidia's suppliers based in Taiwan.

Huang's visit to Taiwan attracted significant attention, with fans closely following his every move. The local media even coined the term “Jensanity” to describe the frenzy surrounding his visit.

Aside from Huang, other prominent tech CEOs such as Lisa Su of AMD, Pat Gelsinger of Intel, and Cristiano Amon of Qualcomm also gathered in Taipei for Computex, an annual trade show.

Originally established as a platform for Taiwan's emerging tech industry, Computex has gained newfound prominence due to the surge in demand for advanced chips driven by innovations like ChatGPT by OpenAI.

Both Nvidia and AMD outsource the production of their cutting-edge chips to Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), solidifying Taiwan's position as a key player in the AI revolution.

Christopher Miller, author of “Chip War: The Fight for the World’s Most Critical Technology,” highlighted that tech CEOs are increasingly visiting Taiwan to strengthen partnerships with chip manufacturers and tap into the country's pool of AI talent.
