MGM Resorts International, Nvidia, Airbnb, Walgreens Boots Alliance and Carnival Corp. were the top S&P 500 index gainers on the stock market today.
The S&P 500 tried to rebound Monday, but closed down 0.2%.
MGM stock popped % to 36.65 on Monday, but still near a recent nine-month low.
On Monday, HSBC initiated coverage on MGM, ABNB stock and a slew of other travel and leisure names with buy ratings.
NVDA stock bounced 3.8% to 429.75, after hitting 409.45 intraday, with the AI chip leader just undercutting its September lows. That means its two-month consolidation is now a double-bottom base with a 476.09 buy point, according to MarketSmith. Nvidia stock is still below its 50-day line.
Nvidia and Advanced Micro Devices could sell PC chips using broad designs from Arm Holdings, Reuters reported, as Microsoft looks to lessen its reliance on Intel.
ABNB stock, one of the newer S&P 500 members, climbed 3.35% to 120.39, benefiting from the new HSBC buy rating. Shares are still below their 50-day and 200-day lines. Airbnb earnings are due Nov. 1.
Walgreens stock gained 3.3% to 21.96, but still below a long-sliding 50-day line. WBA stock bounced after JPMorgan upgraded Walgreens to overweight, saying a new CEO represents a "new era" for the Dow Jones drug giant.
CCL stock rose 3.1% to 11.38 but after hitting the lowest level in nearly five months. Carnival didn't get an HSBC initiation, but still benefited from the positive travel sector vibes.
