Nurses will stage their first ever national walkout next month in an escalation of the ongoing NHS pay dispute.
The Royal College of Nursing (RCN) announced its members will take industrial action across two days in December after the UK Government turned down its offer of formal, detailed negotiations as an alternative to industrial action.
Strikes will take place on December 15 and 20 across England, Northern Ireland, and Wales. It comes after nursing staff at the majority of NHS employers across the UK voted to take strike action over pay and patient safety earlier this month. The RCN said it will announce which particular NHS employers be striking next week, when formal notifications are submitted.
