Nurses take to the picket line in 'biggest strike yet'

Nurses across the region joined a mass strike this evening.

The Royal College of Nursing (RCN) said the "biggest strike yet" will be held at 8pm on Sunday, April 30 and ends at 11.59pm on May 1. The strike was originally planned to run for 48-hours, ending at 8pm on Tuesday May 2, but was cut short following a High Court hearing.

For the first time, the strike will include nursing staff working in emergency departments, intensive care units, cancer care and other services that were previously exempt from strike action.
