A nurse has bid £5.19 for a five-star Greek island holiday - and won. Daniel Aung bagged the amazing break in Kos on the Jet2holidays app.
Through its Bid for a Break campaign, people can place a bid on their next holiday. A new holiday is available to bid on every week on the app.
If someone is the only user to bid a certain amount of money, and that amount is the lowest, they buy the holiday for that price. Bids open at 9am on a Monday and can be placed until 12noon on the Thursday, reports NottinghamshireLive.
Daniel, an adult acute medicine and oncology nurse from Nottingham, will be staying at the Michelangelo Resort and Spa in Kos for seven nights with his partner.
He said: "I decided to enter the competition because it has been an incredibly busy year and I was hoping to be able to treat my partner to a holiday away. I chose the numbers entirely at random and I'm so excited to have won."
The scheme was first launched on 2021, and lucky winners have gone to the Canary Islands, Spain and Turkey, with bids starting from just 2p.
Steve Heapy, the CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, said: "Congratulations to Daniel for successfully bidding for a holiday with Jet2holidays through our 'Bid for a Break' campaign. With summer in full swing, we know how much UK holidaymakers want to get away to enjoy some much-needed sunshine, and we are giving them the chance to do just that in a fun way for potentially only a few pence. We wish Daniel and his partner a lovely holiday in Kos."
Bidders who are unsuccessful still get a special discount code giving them £60 off their next holiday. The lowest unique bid is announced every Thursday.
