Nurse Attacked By Illegal Immigrant On The Run In NYC

Kaiser Permanente healthcare workers go on strike in California

A nurse in New York City recently shared her harrowing experience of being attacked by a patient while on duty. The incident took place at Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx, where the nurse, Chelsea Morris, was punched in the face by a patient named Edward Johnson.

According to reports, Johnson, who is an illegal immigrant with a history of criminal offenses, assaulted the nurse when she was trying to provide him with medical care. Despite being arrested for the assault, Johnson was released back onto the streets shortly after the incident.

It was revealed that Johnson had previously been involved in similar violent acts, including attacking a female doctor at another hospital on two separate occasions. His criminal record shows a pattern of repeated offenses, totaling at least 46 crimes since entering the U.S. a decade ago.

Following the attack, the nurse, Chelsea Morris, was left with a black eye and emotional trauma. Despite the Bronx DA's office allegedly urging her to reduce the charges against Johnson, she stood firm in seeking justice for the assault she endured.

Authorities are now actively searching for Edward Johnson, who is currently on the run. The Bronx DA's office has expressed intentions to pursue felony charges against him, highlighting the need for stronger laws to prevent individuals with such criminal backgrounds from being released back into society.

This incident has raised concerns about the safety of healthcare workers and the effectiveness of the legal system in dealing with repeat offenders. Calls for stricter measures to ensure the protection of both the public and frontline workers have been echoed by the community.

The ongoing search for Edward Johnson underscores the importance of addressing gaps in the justice system to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future. The case serves as a stark reminder of the challenges faced by those working in healthcare and the need for comprehensive reforms to enhance public safety.
