Numbing Tattoo Wipes Sold Online Are Recalled Because Lidocaine Packaging Failed a Federal Child Safety Rule

About 55,250 numbing tattoo wipes have been recalled because their foil packets are not child-resistant, as required by federal law. The wipes contain lidocaine, a topical anesthetic that regulators treat as a poisoning risk for young children when the packaging can be opened and the contents swallowed.

The recall covers MD Wipe Outz Numbing Tattoo Wipes, sold in individually wrapped foil packets in boxes of 5, 10, 25, and 250. They were sold online only, through Amazon and a Shopify storefront, at prices ranging from about $7.50 for a five-pack to $225 for a 250-pack. No incidents or injuries have been reported.
