NTAs viewers 'can't stop laughing' at Dermot O'Leary's antics behind Strictly celebrations

The National Television Awards returned last night, reuniting TV icons under one roof for one of the most notoriously wild nights in the showbiz calendar. Although it appeared to be more of a tame affair this year, there were still exciting moments and event-goers spotted stumbling from afterparties in London following the glitzy ceremony.

But one broadcaster in particular was spotted having the time of his life inside the OVO Arena - leaving NTAs viewers in stitches. While Joel Dommett took on the 2022 hosting duties, much-loved presenter Dermot O'Leary was able to sit back and enjoy himself.

When the cameras panned to Strictly Come Dancing 's Anton Du Beke as he celebrated being named Best Talent Show Judge, eagle-eyed fans spotted Dermot on his way back from the bar.

Clearly enjoying his night out, he was bopping and dancing his way down the aisle while holding his drinks.

One fan shared the clip, tweeting: "Watching #NTAs @radioleary in the background here, can't stop laughing!"

Another replied: "I noticed". Others commented on his support for This Morning co-star Alison Hammond - who was nominated for Best Presenter.

Another tweeted: "Dermot O'Leary is here to support his co-star Alison Hammond, who is nominated for Best Presenter. But most importantly, he is here to take pics for everyone else x," alongside a photo of Dermot holding a phone, trying to make space to take a snap.

A few more wished that the TV star was still the face of the award ceremony. The former X Factor host had presented the NTAs for a decade before stepping down two years ago.

In an Instagram announcement at the time, Dermot wrote: "After 10 years of proudly hosting the National Television Awards, I have decided it's time to step down as host," he wrote alongside a picture of him holding up one of the iconic golden gongs.

"It's been a tough decision because we have had a ball over the last decade, but 10 years feels about right.

"I would like to thank Indigo and my ITV family for a brilliant ten years and look forward to proudly passing on the baton in 2020...and a holiday in January!"
