NT police search for prisoner after escape from Elliott watch house near Tennant Creek

Northern Territory police say they have relocated a prisoner who fled a remote outback police station earlier this week.

Earl Junior Foster, 23, escaped from the Elliott Police Station watch house, about 250 kilometres north of Tennant Creek, at about 3:30pm on Tuesday.

Police said he "caused a disturbance" in the station before forcing his way past two officers.

One of the officers suffered a laceration to his cheek during the clash and was transported to Tennant Creek Hospital for treatment.

Extra police were sent to Elliott from Tennant Creek to help with the search, with police saying while Foster was not believed to be a risk to the public, anyone who saw him should not approach him.

Police found the man at 4.50am on Friday morning and he was taken to Tennant Creek to face charges.
