The disappearance of a Darwin man who went missing almost two months ago is being treated as suspicious by Northern Territory Police.

Tony Rowe, 36, was last seen about 9:30pm on Saturday, May 28, leaving an address in the Darwin suburb of Moulden, after visiting the Hibiscus Tavern in Leanyer earlier in the night.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Justene Dwyer said police held serious concerns for his welfare.

She said they were appealing for anyone who had seen him on the night of May 28 "at any location between Leanyer and Moulden", or who had any information about his whereabouts, to come forward.

"We make the appeal now because there's been no phone or bank activity since Tony was last seen on May 28," she said.

"It's now being treated as suspicious."

Acting Senior Sergeant Dwyer cast doubt over whether Mr Rowe was still alive but said police were considering all possibilities.

She also said there were no suspects in his disappearance at this stage, however police were speaking to "cooperative witnesses", including a woman who was last seen with him.

Mr Rowe is a long-term Darwin resident and has family and friends who live locally.

Acting Senior Sergeant Dwyer said there was no evidence that he had gone missing before.
