NT man remains in hospital after allegedly stabbing Tiwi home invasion victim with a shovel

A 31-year-old man accused of breaking into a home and stabbing the occupant in the neck with a shovel before stealing their car has been charged with more than 10 offences.

Keenan Ben Kura Reginald Henrikson, 31, was arrested by members of the NT Police dog operations unit on Friday after officers had been actively searching for him for three days.

Police allege Mr Henrikson was disturbed trespassing in the backyard of a 61-year-old man in the Darwin suburb of Tiwi on Tuesday, May 9.

In a media release last week, police said the 61-year-old man was then stabbed in the neck with a shovel before the intruder fled in the man's vehicle.

He suffered non-life-threatening injuries and the car was later found abandoned in Wanguri.

On Friday, police said 31-year-old Mr Henrikson was arrested after they received a tip-off that a man in a red Commodore was allegedly casing businesses in the Palmerston suburb of Pinelands.

"The vehicle was later sighted driving erratically throughout the Northern Suburbs before rear-ending another vehicle on McMillian's Road just before 3am [on Friday]," police said last week.

"The man fled the crash scene, running into nearby bushland. Patrol Dog Drax and his handler were deployed to track the man nearly 2kms in and located the man hiding in thick vegetation near Robertson Barracks."

Mr Henrikson has been charged with 11 offences, including aggravated robbery, burglary, theft and trespass.

He was also accused of driving dangerously and unlicensed, not stopping after a crash and resisting police.

His defence lawyer, Bryce Wilson, told the Darwin Local Court that Mr Henrikson was unable to appear in court in person as he was in hospital.

His case was adjourned for four weeks, to return to court on June 12.

Mr Henrikson was remanded in custody.
