Human remains have been found in the NSW Central West during the search for a man police believe was murdered.
Police say the remains were found at a remote property at Killongbutta, 40 kilometres north west of Bathurst.
The discovery came five days into the search for missing 24-year-old Malaysian man "Jacky" Chong Kai Wong, who has not been seen or heard from since December 2020.
Police believe Mr Wong was working for a drug syndicate involved in cannabis growing at the time of his alleged murder.
NSW Police Drug and Firearms Squad Commander, Detective Superintendent John Watson, last week said Mr Wong's death appeared to have been "particularly gruesome", although no further details have yet been released.
The remains were discovered on Sunday afternoon and are yet to be formally identified.
They will be forensically examined and further testing including DNA analysis is expected.
The three men who have been charged with his murder are set to appear in court in May.
