A man has been extradited from Thailand and charged with the murder of Bradley Dillon, who was stabbed and shot multiple times in Sydney eight years ago.

The 25-year-old Sydney father from Abbotsford died in a Leichhardt shopping centre car park after allegedly attempting to recover money that was owed to his sister.

Police were called to Lords Road in Leichhardt after witnesses reported hearing gunshots at about 5.40pm on Monday, August 11, 2014.

NSW Ambulance paramedics attempted to revive Mr Dillon, who was found collapsed on the roadway with a number of gunshot wounds, but he died at the scene.

A 33-year-old man who had been remanded in a Thai prison was extradited to Australia this morning.

He arrived at Sydney International Airport from Bangkok at about 6am and taken to Mascot Police Station.

The man has been charged with murder and is due to appear at Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday.

Earlier this year, Diego Carbone, 23, was sentenced to 18 years behind bars for his role in the murder.

Homicide Squad Commander, Detective Superintendent Danny Doherty, said the man's extradition to Australia was the result of an extensive investigation since 2014.

"Concurrent to various court processes, investigators have continued to work tirelessly to ensure this man faced justice for his alleged involvement in Mr Dillon's murder," Detective Superintendent Doherty said.

"Bradley was a father who was senselessly murdered."
