National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby recently defended President Joe Biden's capacity to serve as commander-in-chief at all hours of the day. This defense comes in response to Biden's recent statement to governors about needing more sleep and planning to end events by 8:00 p.m.
Kirby emphasized that being the president of the United States is a 24-hour, seven-days-a-week job. He highlighted that the national security team always has access to the president, regardless of the time, ensuring that he is always available for consultations and decision-making.
Kirby further mentioned that Biden is actively engaged with the national security team, constantly asking questions and staying informed around the clock.
These statements from Kirby come as Biden is gearing up to participate in the NATO summit in Washington. The summit will bring together leaders from the alliance to discuss various pressing issues, including Russia's ongoing war on Ukraine.
