Liverpool Women's midfielder Missy Bo Kearns is hopeful England's European Championships success can kick-start a new, exciting era for the female game.
The Lionesses achieved a 2-1 victory over Germany at Wembley this evening, with goals from Ella Toone and Chloe Kelly earning England Women their first ever major tournament win. After drawing 1-1 at the end of regular time, Kelly prodded home from close range with only ten minutes remaining before a potential penalty shootout.
A total of 87,192 spectators witnessed this historic moment for Sarina Wiegman's side, who will hope their performances at the Euros can inspire a new generation to pursue a professional career in Women's football. One individual who has been left inspired by tonight's triumph is Liverpool midfielder Missy Bo Kearns, who helped the Reds earn promotion back to the WSL last season (Women's Super League).
