Notts County player ratings as Mitchell goes from hero to zero v Boreham Wood

Notts County were forced to share the spoils at Meadow Park, as they were twice pegged back by Boreham Wood to draw 2-2 in Hertfordshire.

The Magpies took the lead in the seventh minute after Will Evans was adjudged to have handled the ball inside the area, albeit misfortunate, Rodrigues was ruthless from the spot, sending Nathan Ashmore the wrong way.

The hosts levelled after a period of sustained pressure, with Danny Elliott smashing the ball beyond Sam Slocombe following a defensive mix-up in the Notts County back line.

But an inspired double substitution from Luke Williams on the hour-mark proved decisive. The introduction of Matty Palmer and Mitchell injected some life into the Magpies.

Notts took advantage of a quick throw-in, with Langstaff finding the feet of the Notts number seven, who in turn smashed a left-footed shot hard and low into the bottom corner.

But the Magpies rode their luck at times, with Elliott having two goals disallowed after defensive lapses in the scorching summer sun, but eventually, the hosts got their goal seven minutes from time.

After an impact at one end, Mitchell was the unfortunate man to haul down Jamal Fyfield inside the Notts area, with Tyrone Marsh stepping up and sending Slocombe the wrong way, with the points shared down in Hertfordshire.

This is how NottsLive rated the Magpies' performance at Meadow Park this afternoon.

Sam Slocombe - 6

Had rarely anything to do throughout the entirety of the game. Can be frustrated with his defence for Boreham Wood's first goal. Almost gifted Boreham Wood a second with a misplaced pass.

Richard Brindley - 6

Enjoyed a comfortable opening 30 minutes but struggled following the introduction of Tyrone Marsh. Was often second best when marking the Boreham Wood number ten, especially during the second half.

Kyle Cameron - 6

Was keen to drive out with the ball from defence and push Notts up the pitch. His passing was pinpoint and decisive as usual but will feel at fault for not organising his defence for the Boreham Wood equaliser.

Aden Baldwin - 5

A number of overhit balls summed up his day at the back. Was often guilty of overplaying and often slowed Notts down when he was in possession of the ball. Looked uncomfortable in the heat.

Adam Chicksen - 6

Was a huge threat going forward for Notts, and a was a consistent outlet on the left-hand side. Could of had two assists for Langstaff only to be denied by the linesman's flag and the outstretched boot of Jamal Fyfield.

Joel Taylor - 6

His attacking threat was minimised during the 90 minutes, but he remained solid defensively and was eager to get up the pitch and help Langstaff and Rodrigues.

Ed Francis - 6

Nothing special in the middle of the park. Kept the game ticking and made the simple passes under pressure.

Jim O'Brien - 6

His substitution was needed to inject that little bit of energy Notts were missing in the midfield area. Patrolled the centre of the park well and was keen to break forward.

Ruben Rodrigues - 7

Showed great composure early on to slot his penalty away with ease. Was the vocal point of Notts' attacking threat and linked up well with Langstaff throughout, a partnership the National League should be scared of.

Sam Austin - 6

His impact on the game remained minimal throughout but showed nice touches throughout, but nothing to trouble the Boreham Wood defence.

Macauley Langstaff - 6

Worked really hard up front but was frustrated by the Boreham Wood defence who marshalled him well and crowded round him at every given opportunity. His combination play with Rodrigues is something Notts fans should be excited about.

SUBS -

Kairo Mitchell - 6

Came on and caused havoc within the Boreham Wood defence. Took his goal extremely well but his hard work was undone after conceding the penalty for Boreham Wood's equaliser.

Matty Palmer - 6

Came on and just added that little extra bit of pace Notts were missing in the middle of midfield.

Geraldo Bajrami - N/A

Came on to replace Baldwin but had little to nothing to do.
