People living in a Nottinghamshire village say they 'desperately' want to see a closed pub restored to its former glory. The Spread Eagle in Hockerton has recently been sold and neighbours hope the building will not be turned into houses.
The building had been in operation as a pub since the 1930s, and was put up for sale earlier this year following the impact of the pandemic. The Spread Eagle was a reason many people moved to the village, near Southwell, and residents say it won't be the same if it was turned into houses.
Pharmaceutical manager Lisa Parkes, 50, said: "We would love it to stay as a pub. It was a big reason that we bought in the village, because it had a pub.
