Nottinghamshire Police statement as crash between ambulance and car closes Mansfield Road

An ambulance and car have collided on a Nottingham street, leaving two people in hospital. The incident took place on Wednesday, May 10, on the A60 Mansfield Road in Carrington, near Lidl, and has closed the road in both directions.

The collision, which took place between Tavistock Drive and A611 Hucknall Road, has also caused a number of bus routes to be diverted. In a statement, Nottinghamshire police said: "We were called at 11.26am to the A60 in Carrington after a collision between an ambulance and a car.

"Two people travelling in the car have been taken to hospital. Thankfully their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening at this time. The road has been closed and diversions are in place."

Images from the scene show a paramedic response car and another vehicle badly damaged. Witnesses recall hearing a loud bang when the collision happened. A recovery has arrived at the scene to collect both cars involved.

Buses including Lime 56, 57, 58,59 and Purple 87, 88, 89 have been diverted towards Nottingham via Haydn Road and Hucknall Road.
