Nottinghamshire mum drank wine and assaulted cinema staff during Spider-Man movie

A mum assaulted cinema staff and police after turning up for a Spider-Man movie with a bottle of wine and a wine glass. Romany Bradley, who works full-time as a Human Resources advisor, went along to the showing with a young boy at the ODEON, Park Lane, Mansfield.

During the movie, on February 5, last year, she went to the exit to ask for the temperature to be turned down, Nottingham Crown Court heard. She was observed to be drunk and was difficult with two members of staff who came to assist.

She called them names and kicked their shins, before leaving. Staff were so concerned she was going to drive, they went after her, and tried to take her wine bottle away.

But she threatened to use the bottle as a weapon. One worker tried to grab the bottle - but she bent his finger back.

Police arrived and she kicked out, kicking one in the stomach three times. By the time she was in custody, she used homophobic language, lashed out and swung her fist towards an officer's head. She grabbed his elbow, causing some discomfort, the court was told.

Bradley pleaded guilty to public order act offences, two common assaults on cinema staff and two of assaulting emergency workers. She was handed a 12-month community order, costs order of £340, 25 rehabilitation activity days, and an alcohol treatment programme for six months.

Recorder Hussain gave her a chance because she has a child and job, but she said Bradley had behaved so badly in front of children watching Spider-Man, and her behaviour was clearly related to alcohol.

Lucky Thandi, mitigating, told the court on Monday (February 20) her client had consumed a lot of wine - more than she realised - and had been through a difficult separation.

Bradley has recognised her alcoholism. She now attends AA meetings four to five times a week.
