Nottinghamshire girl, 7, raises £6,000 to donate toys to hospital after cancer diagnosis

A seven-year-old Nottinghamshire girl has raised more than £6,000 to donate hundreds of toys to children at Queen's Medical Centre after being diagnosed with cancer. Livia Collins, of Newthorpe, started raising the cash shortly after doctors said 'completely out the blue' that she had kidney cancer on March 21.

After having her treatment explained to her through toys and noticing there were not many around the hospital, Livia began raising money for child cancer patients. "We've been in hospital a few times and there's very little to do," said mum, Evonne.

"The toys were sparse, they were in need of a refresh. So Livia suggested some more toys for the hospital." She said the seven-year-old, who is showing "promising" signs of recovery after undergoing chemotherapy, noticed a shortage of toys for her age and older.
